The now-famous design program of the 1968 Olympics seems to directly test the concept of entropy. A familiar notion for designers, the concept suggests that any system we can envision is inevitably bound to disintegrate on multiple levels over time. Formulated at a point of historically heightened social tensions in Mexico, this particular design system's influence and integrity has nonetheless endured. This talk reflects on why this design system is influential not only historically and in terms of its design merits, but also given how profoundly ingrained it has become in the articulation of social dissent in recent decades.
We hope to see you there!
