As a capstone project for FRE 3285: French Popular Music, students are organizing a concert to showcase various French artists and their respective works. The concert will include some of the most well known French artists. Through a presentation of their work, attendees will get exposed not only to new music, but also to its cultural significance. French music has drastically helped to shape French culture over the years with a specific emphasis on addressing questions of French identity centered around “Who are we?”. This event will be an opportunity for students of all romance languages to learn more about French culture and music, thereby broadening their exposure to another romance language and providing the opportunity to compare and contrast French music with music of their own disciplines.
